Goodbye old friend. Ten years on ‘the booking system’, which had morphed into a full event vehicle management system, has served a handful of events well but is now scheduled for retirement due to a mix of technical challenges (it needs 2FA) keeping it running and, to be quite frank, my age!
After 40+ years coding I’m finding it harder to spend long hours coding and maintaining it. It’s in the best shape it ever was with a recent re-architect and fresh up to date code stacks but attempts to hand it over to another custodian (e.g. the events that were using it) have failed.
The code is archived in Github so anyone interested in taking it on just ask.
the Portal
the Portal is 'the booking systems' spiritual replacement and whilst it doesn't have things like vehicle invites and run number allocation it does focus heavily on club membership features now.
