Designed (and built in conjunction with Derek Lavine, also my co-rally driver!) a secure encrypted IM client-server software product called CipherIM, for which was awarded an Australian (Cryptographic) General Export Licence in 2002. The precursor to WhatsApp.

Technical Director responsible for APAC technical operations, email phishing R&D team. MessageLabs was the first to discover the early attempts at email phishing. My team leading early research and DBCS('asian' language) phishing emails.

Setup and ran the anti-virus research centre for Norton AntiVirus in Asia Pacific, managing a team of malware analysts. Also media trained as the Norton media spokesperson for APAC.

A Cleartext Pty Ltd project Threat Forensics was the first real-time automated malware analysis product. Early test were very promising but the product was dropped when investors didn't believe what we had was real! Symantec(Norton AntiVirus) later acquired the technology. :)

Long term member and a term as Chairman of the XMPP Standards Foundation, part of the IETF. Otherwise known as the Jabber chat protocol.

Took on the role of Manager R&D at Dr Solomon's the world leading computer anti-virus software company. Acquired by the McAfee Anti-Virus company for the malware scanning technology. One of my own utilities was included in later versions of the DOS product!
